I haven't had a good restoration project in a couple of years. Anxious to get back in the groove! Found this Stewart-Warner R-1361-A on ebay at a good price and am anxious to dive in. Can't seem to be able to paste the photo inside the post. There's a photo of it in the Gallery.

Yippee! Such joy today when the postman arrived with the box. But what disappointment when I opened the box. The dufus seller packed the radio FACE DOWN in the box with nothing more than a piece of that one inch styrofoam house siding for packing material. The two glasses probably broke before he got it to the Post Office. What a shame. Oh well, we'll do what we have to do.

Got the chassis cleaned up today.
Man, it was nasty.
Commencing the restuffing...
Restuff done (except for the cans). There were two non-originals in the mix.

Paper dial replacement. Needs some refinement but I think this will work.
Finished the chassis today. Everything has been restuffed and installed.
Checking out the speaker is next. Almost ready for a smoke test. |

Yay, it works. I suspect the previous owner had a lot of problems with it. The AC switch is defunct, it squealed like a stuck pig at about 1/3 volume because of the glass 6F6. Both RF amp and IF amp tubes were very weak. And way out of alignment. Could use a new volume pot too. One of the filter caps had its top removed previously. I wonder if someone tried to 'refill' it? Fishing day tomorrow. Will investigate the cabinet 'project' next week.
